California Elk Hunting with Cary Jellison, gandjoutdoors.com

We have over 20 years experience calling and locating bulls in the rut during both archery and rifle seasons. In California we hunt Roosevelt elk and Tule elk. Our success rate has been over 90% in California. Since 1999, our clients have taken 19 Boone & Crockett bulls, with 10 of our last 11 clients taking B&C bulls. Take a look at our photo gallery to see photos of the bulls our clients have taken.

In California, we hunt the Northwestern, Del Norte, Klamath and Big Lagoon hunts for Roosevelt elk. Our guided Tule elk hunts take place on Cache Creek, East Park Reservoir and Grizzly Island. These hunts offer an excellent opportunity to harvest a B&C bull. These hunts are draw hunts or they can be purchased through auction or as landowner tags.

For the Northwestern elk hunt we have access to a private ranch. Because the Northwestern hunt is on private property, there are additional trespass and harvest fees; please call for details.

The application deadline for California is over. For your 5 day California hunt do not include meals and lodging due to variations in the locations. Season dates are August through October.

If you draw an elk tag in California, give yourself the best chance to get a record bull elk either Roosevelt, Tule, or Rocky Mountain. Just click HERE for contact with Cary.

Drift Boat Fishing Trips-Steelhead and Wild Trout

Drift Boat Fishing Trips - Steelhead and Wild Trout

We specialize in fly fishing trips for wild trout and steelhead on the Yuba River. The portion we fish is open 365 days a year and the fishing is good all year round. The Yuba is catch and release only with barbless hooks and artificial lures or flies, no bait. This allows the fish to grow to a large size, with the average trout between 14 and 17 inches long. These trout fight like no other - we break off at least one fish on most of our trips. We also guide on the American and Feather rivers.

You will be provided with top of the line Sage fly rods and Sage, Galvan or Ross reels, as well as leaders, tippet and flies for all trips but feel free to bring your own equipment. All of our equipment is top notch, including a state of the art Hyde Drift Boat. Hyde is well known for its quality and performance. You will enjoy the experience of fishing from a boat so comfortably designed. For more information on Hyde Drift Boats, feel free to call me or contact Hyde at www.hydeboats.com.

Full day trips last 8 hours and half day trips are 4 hours. Lunch and drinks are provided with all full day trips. Prices are for 1-2 people; third person is an additional $100.

Fishing License and Steelhead Report Card are required on the Yuba River, American River and Feather River. Prices do not include license, Steelhead Report Card or guide gratuities.

GandJ Ouddoors Nevada Hunt Choices

Hello Everyone,

The deadline to apply for big game tags in Nevada is April 15. You can go to www.huntnevada.com and apply online. I encourage everyone to buy the license and build bonus points for each species. Here are my recommendations for the 2013 drawing for deer, sheep, antelope, and elk if you would like me to guide you. These are not necessarily the best units in the state. If you have any questions about quality of animals for a given hunt or anything else, give me a call before you apply.

If you don't want to draw the tag this year you can apply for a point for each species and it will increase your odds of drawing later on.

For deer I would apply in this order. Those of you that already applied in the nonresident guide draw and have tags or didn't draw cannot take part in the deer drawing but you can and should apply for the other species. Spring Turkey Hunting Coming Soon!

We provide one day fully guided hunts in northern California on private land. Our premier properties offer prime Rio Grande Turkey habitat in beautiful settings. We have over 20 years experience hunting and calling gobblers and for the past several years have harvested on average 1 bird per hunt. Gobblers with up to 11 ¼" beards have been taken. These hunts are quite popular and usually book up before the season, so be sure to book your hunt early.

Spring hunts have a limit of 1 bearded turkey per day and 3 per season.
Fall hunts have a limit of 1 turkey per season.
And don't forget you can bring a buddy (an extra hunter) for a discounted additional fee (see rates below). For safety reasons, we cannot take more than 2 hunters per guide.

Upland Game Bird Stamp is required on all hunts. Prices do not include state hunting license, Upland Game Bird Stamp or guide gratuities.

Want to book now, Turkey season coming in a few weeks. Call Cary at 530-885-1492

Yuba River Trout Fishing

YUBA RIVER TROUT FISHING

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all doing well. I floated the Yuba on Saturday and Sunday and the fish are starting to eat Stoneflies on top.

Here is a picture of a fish we caught yesterday on a big dry and unfortunately we lost the biggest fish we hooked after about a 5 minute fight. The weather is going to be in the 70's this week and the fishing should just get better with the warm weather.

The cost for a full day float trip (8 hours) is $425. The trip includes lunch, drinks, flies and rods and reels if you need them.

A half day float trip (4 hours) is $325 and includes drinks, flies and rods and reels. This price is good for two people.

Give me a call at 1-530-263-0492 or email me Cary@gandjoutdoors.com at  if you would like to get out and fish.
