GandJ Ouddoors Nevada Hunt Choices

Hello Everyone,

The deadline to apply for big game tags in Nevada is April 15. You can go to www.huntnevada.com and apply online. I encourage everyone to buy the license and build bonus points for each species. Here are my recommendations for the 2013 drawing for deer, sheep, antelope, and elk if you would like me to guide you. These are not necessarily the best units in the state. If you have any questions about quality of animals for a given hunt or anything else, give me a call before you apply.

If you don't want to draw the tag this year you can apply for a point for each species and it will increase your odds of drawing later on.

For deer I would apply in this order. Those of you that already applied in the nonresident guide draw and have tags or didn't draw cannot take part in the deer drawing but you can and should apply for the other species. I am already booked up with late hunters that drew in the nonresident guide draw.

Spring Turkey Hunting Coming Soon!

We provide one day fully guided hunts in northern California on private land. Our premier properties offer prime Rio Grande Turkey habitat in beautiful settings. We have over 20 years experience hunting and calling gobblers and for the past several years have harvested on average 1 bird per hunt. Gobblers with up to 11 ¼" beards have been taken. These hunts are quite popular and usually book up before the season, so be sure to book your hunt early.

Spring hunts have a limit of 1 bearded turkey per day and 3 per season.
Fall hunts have a limit of 1 turkey per season.
And don't forget you can bring a buddy (an extra hunter) for a discounted additional fee (see rates below). For safety reasons, we cannot take more than 2 hunters per guide.

Upland Game Bird Stamp is required on all hunts. Prices do not include state hunting license, Upland Game Bird Stamp or guide gratuities.

Want to book now, Turkey season coming in a few weeks. Call Cary at 530-885-1492

Yuba River Trout Fishing

YUBA RIVER TROUT FISHING

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all doing well. I floated the Yuba on Saturday and Sunday and the fish are starting to eat Stoneflies on top.

Here is a picture of a fish we caught yesterday on a big dry and unfortunately we lost the biggest fish we hooked after about a 5 minute fight. The weather is going to be in the 70's this week and the fishing should just get better with the warm weather.

The cost for a full day float trip (8 hours) is $425. The trip includes lunch, drinks, flies and rods and reels if you need them.

A half day float trip (4 hours) is $325 and includes drinks, flies and rods and reels. This price is good for two people.

Give me a call at 1-530-263-0492 or email me Cary@gandjoutdoors.com at  if you would like to get out and fish.

Want to get into the Nevada Guide Draw for Mule Deer?

So you want to hunt Nevada for Mule Deer in 2013 and want a better chance at drawing that great mule deer tag?  Well you can get the odds more in your favor by entering the Nevada Guide Draw. We have had 19 out of 22 clients draw deer tags in one year before.

Here is what you will need to do now to draw that tag.

1. To apply with a guide, you need to complete a 2013 Power of Attorney form, click here to get your copy.

2. If you were born in 1960 or later, you need proof that you have taken a hunter safety course. If you have applied in Nevada before you are already in the system and don’t need it.

3. If you go to www.huntnevada.com there is a toll free number you can call and they will tell you what you need to do to get entered into the computer so  we can apply for you.

To enter the Nevada Mule Deer Guide Draw with G&J Outdoors, complete the above paper work and send it to G&J Outdoors at 220055 Porcupine Ridge Rd, Colfax, Ca 95713.

A $1750 Deposit per hunter is required. This can be paid by check or money order.  If you go on our website and use the PayPal system, a 3% charge will apply.

At G&J Outdoors, the first clients in with their paperwork and deposit, get the first choice of  hunt dates  and guides. The key is to get your paperwork and deposit in by March 1 to insure you meet the deadline for processing by March 8.

2013 NEVADA NONRESIDENT MULE DEER GUIDE DRAW

If you are a nonresident of Nevada you are eligible to apply in the nonresident guide drawing. The deadline for this drawing is March 8 and I have to apply for the client. You will know on March 20 if you drew a tag or not. Usually your draw odds are about 70% in this drawing. One year I had 22 nonresident clients apply for deer tags and 19 of them drew. I have only been below 50% two times in 18 years.

If you are interested in going on a guided mule deer hunt in Nevada with me or have any questions, give me a call on my cell at 530 263-0492 or send me an email and I can explain the whole process to you and how it all works.

Upper end deer are usually in the mid to high 170's on these hunts but we do take bigger ones especially on the late hunts. If you take a look at my website at www.gandjoutdoors.com and go to the photo gallery you can see a lot of the bucks clients have taken on these hunts.

These are 5 day fully guided hunts with meals and lodging provided. The cost is the same as last year. A 2 on 1 hunt is $3950 each and a 1 on 1 hunt is $4750.

Take care and I look forward to speaking with you.  Call now to get in the outfitter draw!

Nevada Mule Deer Hunts

Nevada Mule Deer Hunts, a summary of 2012 Nevada Hunts from G&JOutdoors.com.

We saw bucks every day on our mule deer hunts but the quality was way down. It was like the perfect storm for poor hunting.

First, central Nevada had one of the driest winters and springs they have had in about 50 years. Horn growth was the worst I have ever seen.

In addition to that, the lowest high temperature we had during the early season was 71 degrees. If that were not enough, the Department of Wildlife doubled the tag quota statewide and almost tripled it in one of our units.

We had two other bucks that clients missed and unfortunately two bucks that were hit and we never recovered.

Hey, but that's hunting. We worked hard and persistence pays off. Check out our web www.gandjoutdoors.com for pics from last years success.   Follow us on Facebook!
